Just Sing
It has truly been a long time since the last post. During that time I have had to limit my painting time due to now being a care giver to a loved one. But I do have the chance to paint some. I have continued with mixed media but I am working on becoming much looser. This is one of my novelty paintings. This painting sold but there will be more like it posted soon.

Hyacinths - pink
Though I have never grown these flowers, I get excited when I see them blooming in other yards because I know spring won't be too far away.

This Spring's Hydrangeas
Though it was very cold here yesterday, I am beginning to see pots of hydrangeas ready for sale. Also, the Gold Finches are getting brighter in color and some plants are budding with their flowers. Perhaps, that means that spring will be here soon?

Unpainted Barn
A view of a barn that is so common to Georgia and many other parts of the South. The wood is old, weathered and unpainted. The early morning sun is shinning through the interior.

Simple Gift
The impetus for this painting came from a photo
that I transformed by my imagination and my need to produce a vivid, expressive
interpretation all my own.
As an under painting, the
surface was textured with the remaining acrylic paints left from each day's
painting session. Some of the colors may show through adding more
interest. Tuesday, January 19, 2016
Contained
This version is actually the second one; I may do more until I get it like I really want it but this is a step on the way.

White Flowers on a Red Cloth
This is a redo of a painting I posted earlier this month, White Flowers on a Red Plate. I wasn't that satisfied with it and neither were my artist friends so back to the studio and this is the result. Hope you like it better too.

White Flowers on a Red Plate
Oh, it was so good to be back in the studio finally! I just wanted to play so what better way than to paint some expressive flowers. I hope to be where I belong, in the studio, on a much more regular basis now that my hubby has recovered from yet another surgery and the holiday madness is pretty much over.
I am working still on getting even more free with the brush strokes and building layers and textures. It's great to play in the paint.
Thanks for looking.

A Few Grapes and Flowers
A simple painting following an absence from the studio.
This absence was caused by my husband suddenly being taken ill with an infected gall bladder, surgery and problems afterwards. He's on the mend and I hope to be in the studio on a more consistent basis.
Also, I have been realizing the need to clear out year's of accumulated supplies, etc. that aren't being used so that the studio can be a more enjoyable space. A great deal of progress is being made with more to be done but I feel I am in the home stretch.
As always, thanks for looking.

Bountiful
The inspiration for this bouquet was one that the church's altar guild graced the church with recently.
An original 10 x 8 inch, expressive, colorist, still life painting done in a contemporary style with professional grade acrylic paint . As an under painting, the surface was textured with the remaining acrylic paints left from a previous day's painting session. Some of the colors may show through adding more interest. It has been finished with a satin acrylic varnish.

This one flew off the end of my brush today-a great deal of fun in a short period of time.

Lemons on Pink
It's been a while since my last post; lately I have again been going through a slump-nothing I've done has pleased me. This little one I did at the today finally had the element of fun and spontaneity that I want.
