This bouquet was "cut out" by using a negative painting technique from a jumble of all sorts of colorful marks I had made all over the panel. I also added a large flower for a focal point and then used oil pastel to add some additional line work. Everything was very intuitive.
Hope you enjoyed looking at as much as I enjoyed painting it.

Hyacinths - pink
Though I have never grown these flowers, I get excited when I see them blooming in other yards because I know spring won't be too far away.

White Flowers on a Red Cloth
This is a redo of a painting I posted earlier this month, White Flowers on a Red Plate. I wasn't that satisfied with it and neither were my artist friends so back to the studio and this is the result. Hope you like it better too.

White Flowers on a Red Plate
Oh, it was so good to be back in the studio finally! I just wanted to play so what better way than to paint some expressive flowers. I hope to be where I belong, in the studio, on a much more regular basis now that my hubby has recovered from yet another surgery and the holiday madness is pretty much over.
I am working still on getting even more free with the brush strokes and building layers and textures. It's great to play in the paint.
Thanks for looking.

A Few Grapes and Flowers
A simple painting following an absence from the studio.
This absence was caused by my husband suddenly being taken ill with an infected gall bladder, surgery and problems afterwards. He's on the mend and I hope to be in the studio on a more consistent basis.
Also, I have been realizing the need to clear out year's of accumulated supplies, etc. that aren't being used so that the studio can be a more enjoyable space. A great deal of progress is being made with more to be done but I feel I am in the home stretch.
As always, thanks for looking.

Two Pears and Clementines
There's plenty of clementine on hand right now so they got to be my models along with a couple of pears.
An original 8 x 8 inch, expressive, colorist, still life painting done in a contemporary style with professional grade acrylic paint. As an under painting, the surface was textured with the remaining acrylic paints left from a previous day's painting session. Some of the colors may show through adding more interest. It has been finished with a satin acrylic varnish.

Vivid Roses
This floral was painted a few days ago but I waited before posting it as I wanted my art buddies to see it first. I have been painting but right now I am working on two larger pieces that have me stumped. I got some good feed back when I met with my friends so I will continue on with them. So we shall see.
As with all my acrylic paintings it is finished with a semi-gloss acrylic varnish for additional protection.

Red Earrings
My imaginative redo of a swim wear model I found in a catalog. I like to think of her as a strong, athletic swimmer. There is a second version which I'll post tomorrow.
This acrylic painting has been sealed with a satin finish acrylic varnish.
Thanks for looking.

Tea for Stephen
This 8x8 acrylic is from a photo I took of the little tea pot and red cup that a local restaurant served Stephen tea. The remainder was imaginary on my part. As always, thanks for looking.
