I'm sorry its been so long since my last post but life intruded big time this last week.  Finally getting back in the studio today was a bit like heaven.  Thanks for looking.

Four Sunflowers

This painting was taken from a photo I took of some sunflowers I grew over a decade ago. The canvas was prepared with an application of paint left on the palette at the end of a previous session thereby giving a lot of texture to the painting.

Three Plums in a White Bowl

Here are the red and black plums again.  The painting surface was covered first with the left over paint from the previous painting session giving the surface texture.  I then drew the layout on this surface and let some of the under painting show.

The Red and Black (Plums)

A bit about the name for this painting.  My town is the home for the University of Georgia.  The school colors are red and black and the town is awash with those colors on the days when there are football games.  I guess I couldn't help myself.

I created texture in the under painting with various tools that give it more interest.  Thanks for looking.

Flowers at a Reception

Boy oh Boy, did this painting ever go through a lot of changes and whose to say it won't go through more.  Thanks for looking.

Pears in a Blue Bowl #2

Here's another version of those two pears.  This one is done without a set-up; I painted this one more from an imaginative remembrance of the first one.

A Black Jug with Flowers, II

You might be wondering "OK, where is the first version of this painting?"  It is one of several larger ones that I have yet to photograph which will be soon, I hope.

Two Pearson a White Platter

I saw these two petite pears at the local food co-op and they agreed to pose for the next few days. Thanks for looking.

The painting has been varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

Sunflower Trio

Over a decade ago, I had a prolific flower bed or at least the sunflowers were plentiful.  I did several still life set-ups and photographed them for future use.  Several of them have already been painted and posted and now it is this one's turn.  The painting has several layers of paint as I experimented with a few backdrops and finally settled on this rather traditional one which has some similarity to the original set-up.  The painting has been varnished for further enhancement and protection.

I have a few larger pieces that I still need to photo so I can post them soon.  Thanks for looking and for being patient as I work my way through the various paintings.

Red Tulips and Blue

This is another painting where I am attempting to simplify the objects.  Thanks for looking.

The painting has been finished with a satin varnish for additional protection and enhancement.

Tulips on a Red Table

This imaginative floral is an experimentation.  I wanted to see if I like going in this direction, i.e.,  a more stylized rendition of tulips in a vase.  I'd love to hear what your thoughts are.

The painting is varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

Cyclemen and Oranges

This is the first cyclemen I have ever had and it was fascinating to watch the buds bloom.  They go from being pointed downward and over a day's time or so move upward and open.   I am following the directions I found on the internet about how to maintain it while it is dormant and I hope it will awaken for me in the late winter.

This painting went through many changes as I worked on it, off and on, since February.  It is one of the larger pieces I have started and have been working on instead of the smaller daily paintings. Also, I have not been as able to find as much time to get into the studio as I'd like.  Thank you for your patience.  And for looking.

Two Peaches, Two Hydrangeas

Time in  the studio has been scarce lately. Time will remain at a premium as Hubby recovers from his surgery.  Also, I've been working on some larger pieces.  Thanks for your patience.
