Dude

While painting this kitty, I kept wondering what I would have named this boy.  I decided on Dude aka "The Bruiser".

As with all my paintings, a final coat of semi-gloss acrylic varnish is applied to give further enhancement and protection.

Hydrangias and Daisies

I thought that this combination of flowers would be interesting and fun to paint and it was.

Pomegranets and Lemons

A still life of colorful fruit on a red rimmed platter.

Vivid Roses

This floral was painted a few days ago but I waited before posting it as I wanted my art buddies to see it first. I have been painting but right now I am working on two larger pieces that have me stumped.  I got some good feed back when I met with my friends so I will continue on with them.  So we shall see.

As with all my acrylic paintings it is finished with a semi-gloss acrylic varnish for additional protection.

Silk Scarf

There are those paintings that seem to paint themselves and then there are those that, well, just don't seem to happen at all.  This is one of the former.

Tomatoes Time Three

I did this painting a few weeks back but decided to hold off on posting it.  This past week I was in the studio some (not nearly enough) painting and now I have some more work to show.  Thanks for looking.

Girl with Henna Hair

Here's a painting that I did back in February.  I didn't know whether to post it or not but obviously I have decided to do so.  Thanks for looking.

To all who wished me luck on my show it all went off without a hitch and I'm getting good reviews. Thanks for the encouragement.

In the Mix

My time to paint is still limited though mostly for a good reason and that is that I have been preparing to have a small show of my work.  Therefore, I have been spending quite a bit of time framing and getting the paintings ready for hanging.  It's been good to have this to do as my art mojo has been really down lately.  My experience has been to not let that scare me too much but to instead to try to do a little something toward my art even when I don't always feel like it.

This is a 9x12 inch acrylic on hardboard.

Oranges in a Bowl

This bowl of oranges was taken from our table to the studio this morning to work as models.  After sketching them on the board that had been covered with the paint left from yesterday's session, I covered the oranges.  Then I started painting not to refer to them again.  This allows me to play.  Having the texture from the paint underneath really brings life to the painting.

The Red and Black (Plums)

A bit about the name for this painting.  My town is the home for the University of Georgia.  The school colors are red and black and the town is awash with those colors on the days when there are football games.  I guess I couldn't help myself.

I created texture in the under painting with various tools that give it more interest.  Thanks for looking.

Stacked Bowls

It has been awhile since my last post-just too much interference from life but I grabbed time today and finished this one.  Its another attempt of mine to be much looser.  Thanks for looking.

The Red Flower

This was the flower used in Ruth's Gift which I posted yesterday.  I liked it so much that I had to paint it again and give it the center of attention this time.

The painting will be varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

Two Persimmons on Purple

I thought it would be fun to paint two warm orange persimmons on their opposite color, a cool blue violet against a red violet.
