Two Pears

 

Well, this was suppose to be a quick painting of two pears on blue plate.  But you know how plans can go-not well. I found myself getting way too tight and frustrated and ended up wiping everything off and guess what-I liked it much better.  So I covered the set-up and went from there.  I still think that I could go much more loose and imaginative.  At least, I started having fun.

Solitary

This acrylic is actually from a pastel that I did several years ago.   I've always liked the composition and decided to redo it acrylics.  The pastel was a lot more realistic but that's not my goal this time.  Instead I am trying to go much more loose and abstracted.  Thanks for looking.

I was trying to tweak a painting that I started Monday morning that evening.  I was frustrated and in a moment of pique, covered the painting in black paint.  Then I just started painting into the black paint an imaginary set-up and this is the result.  I like the expressive, painterly quality and the distortion of the objects. And it was great fun painting it.  Now, if I can continue with that freedom.

I've been working on some larger pieces and some time and paints left so I began this imaginative still life.  I may use this in a larger work.  Thanks for looking.

Face 1

It has been quite awhile since I have done any portraiture and the last that I did were done in pastels.  I want to do more figure work but do it in a more loose, expressive style.  Karin Jurick's work is an inspiration so you may be seeing more faces both human and animal.

A Small Bouquet

At an earlier home, I had a flower garden and would pick some for still life set ups that I would then photograph in hopes of painting later when I had more time.  Even some wild honey suckle got included in this bouquet which now has finally been painted.

The Red Flower

This was the flower used in Ruth's Gift which I posted yesterday.  I liked it so much that I had to paint it again and give it the center of attention this time.

The painting will be varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

Two Persimmons on Purple

I thought it would be fun to paint two warm orange persimmons on their opposite color, a cool blue violet against a red violet.

As you may be able to guess, there will be another version of this set up tomorrow.  I still had some time and paint left for painting so I took advantage of it and painted a second version which will be posted tomorrow.  There were so many subtle reflections I wanted to keep playing.  The painting will be varnished prior to shipping. The Remaining Lantanas

These are the remaining flowers from Betsey's gift along with the ferns.  I just couldn't not paint them.

Lemons

Before I used the lemon for tonight's fish dinner, I had to paint it, of course.  The painting has been varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

I bought two pears to  use as props for some quick paintings.  It is all in an effort to work on loosening up my brush work. Two more paintings were done at the same time and you can view them soon. This 6x6 acrylic is on canvas covered hardboard.  It has been varnished.

This acrylic painting of a single avocado was done in a very loose manner.  It would be a bright addition to any kitchen.  Acrylic, 6 x 6 inches on canvas hardboard. The painting has been varnished.
