Simple Gift

The impetus for this painting came from a photo that I transformed by my imagination and my need to produce a vivid, expressive interpretation all my own.
As an under painting, the surface was textured with the remaining acrylic paints left from each day's painting session.  Some of the colors may show through adding more interest.

A Black Vase with Gardenias

This painting is from a photo taken over a decade ago of some gardenias from our yard.  Still trying to loosen up and this painting is getting there.  Thanks for looking.

Oranges in a Bowl

This bowl of oranges was taken from our table to the studio this morning to work as models.  After sketching them on the board that had been covered with the paint left from yesterday's session, I covered the oranges.  Then I started painting not to refer to them again.  This allows me to play.  Having the texture from the paint underneath really brings life to the painting.

Two Peaches, Two Hydrangeas

Time in  the studio has been scarce lately. Time will remain at a premium as Hubby recovers from his surgery.  Also, I've been working on some larger pieces.  Thanks for your patience.

Red Rimmed Bowl

I was trying to tweak a painting that I started Monday morning that evening.  I was frustrated and in a moment of pique, covered the painting in black paint.  Then I just started painting into the black paint an imaginary set-up and this is the result.  I like the expressive, painterly quality and the distortion of the objects. And it was great fun painting it.  Now, if I can continue with that freedom.

Ruth's Gift (aka Mixed Fruit #3)

My husband's Aunt gave us these beautiful fruits that she had gotten in a gift basket.  Of course, I had to paint them first. The painting will be varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

Mixed Fruit #2

It's been a great Thanksgiving; time in the studio then off to a relative's for a very fine meal.  There's so much to be grateful for.

Orange and Strawberries 1

As you may be able to guess, there will be another version of this set up tomorrow.  I still had some time and paint left for painting so I took advantage of it and painted a second version which will be posted tomorrow.  There were so many subtle reflections I wanted to keep playing.  The painting will be varnished prior to shipping. Thanks for looking.

A Green Plate and Pears

This is one of my nearly daily paintings that are
done as a development tool.  I like the spontaneity I get
when I keep these as quick studies and don't overwork the piece.

This 6 x 9 inch acrylic on watercolor paper is matted and
ready for framing in a 12 x 9 frame for $40.00 plus S & H.
