Still Life with Tulips and Oranges

This painting has lots of texture and color.  It comes from both a photographic reference and
from my imagination.  It has been finished with a satin, acrylic varnish.
As always, thanks for looking!

Just a Few

I finally had a chance to get into the studio.  I got just a few pieces of fruit and set up this quick still life.  Thanks for looking.

Life is really intruding into my painting time.  This blog is being typed with one hand.  I fell and cracked a bone in my left hand which is luckily my non-dominant hand so I am able to paint.

The Farmer's Flowers

I saw this mason jar filled with zinnias at a local farmer's market and took a quick snap shot of it.  (I take more photos than I buy food.)  Here it is now set in a fanciful landscape.  Thanks for looking.

Lake Lanier Shoreline

Once again, I got to spend a lovely morning along the shore of beautiful Lake Lanier.  There still isn't much fall color, just a hint, but we know it will be glorious in about two weeks.  I like how the Georgia red clay competes with the foliage.  My plein air class is now over and I had a great experience and learned a lot (thanks, Patricia!). She showed us how to keep the process simple and comfortable which had been such a road block for me.

I will be taking a computer marketing class for artists with her starting tomorrow for four weeks, one day a week.  To all of you who have been urging me to get more computer smart (you know who you are), I heard your suggestions and hope to be "with it" soon.  I appreciate your prods as I need those often.

Its been a while since I blogged last, but Hubby had knee surgery last week and that changed the schedule around here if you fellow care givers know what I mean.  But I sincerely am trying to be consistent with my painting as it is such a wonderful "happy pill" for me.

Thanks for looking!

Flowers at a Reception

Boy oh Boy, did this painting ever go through a lot of changes and whose to say it won't go through more.  Thanks for looking.

Pears in a Blue Bowl #2

Here's another version of those two pears.  This one is done without a set-up; I painted this one more from an imaginative remembrance of the first one.

A Black Jug with Flowers, II

You might be wondering "OK, where is the first version of this painting?"  It is one of several larger ones that I have yet to photograph which will be soon, I hope.

Two Pearson a White Platter

I saw these two petite pears at the local food co-op and they agreed to pose for the next few days. Thanks for looking.

The painting has been varnished for additional enhancement and protection.

Sunflower Trio

Over a decade ago, I had a prolific flower bed or at least the sunflowers were plentiful.  I did several still life set-ups and photographed them for future use.  Several of them have already been painted and posted and now it is this one's turn.  The painting has several layers of paint as I experimented with a few backdrops and finally settled on this rather traditional one which has some similarity to the original set-up.  The painting has been varnished for further enhancement and protection.

I have a few larger pieces that I still need to photo so I can post them soon.  Thanks for looking and for being patient as I work my way through the various paintings.

Limes in a Basket

I played a little with using a different tool for applying some of the paint.  The painting is enhanced and protected by a layer of varnish.  Thanks for looking.
