Only Three Slices

Finally made it back; please excuse my absence as I took some time off due to having quests, travel and care giving.  But I hope to be back in the studio this week doing what I am meant to do-paint.

Coming from the East

I'm attending a workshop taught by Patricia Fabian through the Quillian Art Center in Gainesville, GA.  Lake Lanier is located just north of the city and this painting was done while sitting on a dock on it's shore. This week we were to paint clouds; now were there any clouds?  Of course not or at lease not until the day ended. So we just created some; what fun!

Also, we were to paint over another painting and some of the color shows through.

Mums Aplenty

Pea Pods #1

These pea pods were part of a package of stir fry vegetables but, of course, I borrowed them first for a still life.  I just threw them on the plate and went with how they landed.  Once again, I realized that painting from a setup often leads me to tightening up.  I guess that comes from having done realism for so long. When I do a setup the next time, I will do the drawing(s) and then paint from that drawing. Anyway, I did a smaller edition of this without the setup which I will post tomorrow.
